Bangalore gears up for The Big Chess Summer Camp
The Big Chess Summer Camp is coming to more cities and states this year! After announcing its arrival in the city of Nawabs earlier this week, we are all set to witness the camp in its full glory at Bangalore! It looks like it is the best time of year for sports lovers in the city! Bangalore Chess Club is organising the Big Chess Summer Camp 2025 in collaboration with ChessBase India and Teach Chess India, sponsored by CircleChess and Merwans CakeStop at the Garuda Mall. With a unique self-paced learning system, level-wise worksheets, exciting gifts, and a welcoming atmosphere, the camp will ignite or reignite your love for the game. The Big Chess Summer Camp, conducted by BCC, will offer an exciting opportunity for chess enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels to learn, improve, and enjoy the game. Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to sharpen your existing skills, this camp will provide a comprehensive and engaging experience.
What can you expect?
Imagine walking into a shopping mall with your friends and family, and you come across a space full of joy and bubbling with the excitement of people learning something together! A space with a few tables, chessboards, and a team of chess lovers welcoming everyone to learn and play chess with them.
From absolute beginners to rated players, people of all ages- every attendee is welcomed with open arms, and more importantly, with learning materials crafted just for them.
You will get to be a part of fun challenges and a short tournament too alongside some learning!
Some fun activities and highlights that the Bangalore Chess Club has in store for you all would be:
Comprehensive learning for absolute beginners and advanced players.
Workbooks with chess positions of various levels for self-paced learning.
Opportunity for skill development through worksheets, games, challenges, trivia, and lessons.
Swiss tournaments are held at the end of each day.
Participants completing up to Level 3 of the worksheets shall receive exciting certificates and goodies.
Guaranteed learning and fun for all participants.
Special Awards and Recognition
Certificates of Completion: A Certificate will be awarded to participants who complete worksheets upto Level 3 (intermediate-level).
Goodies: Exciting goodies and prizes will be given to all participants who complete Level 3 of the Camp Worksheets.
Fun challenges and quizzes will be conducted and winners will receive cute surprise goodies as well.
The one invaluable prize that each one of the camp participants will receive would be chess knowledge and skills to improve their chess level under the able guidance of chess experts and volunteers who will be present at the camp with an abundance mindset. All participants will also get a chance to experience competitive play through tournaments at the end of each day. Lastly, all participants will receive resources to continue their chess learning journey.

What makes this camp special?
The Big Chess Camp birthed from the minds and hearts of some individuals in Mumbai back in 2023 who formed the Teach Chess India initiative aimed to bring chess and its beauty into the lives of people.
For the first time ever, we are bringing the camp experience to multiple cities across India!
The camp is structured around self-paced learning with a unique 4-Level Worksheet System, so every participant gets a personalized experience:
Level-wise Worksheets:
Level 1 – Perfect for beginners! Learn how each piece moves, the basic rules, and some essential principles to get started.
Level 2 – Dive into tactics like forks, pins, and skewers, plus key ideas to build a strong foundation.
Level 3 – Step up with advanced topics: endgames, positional play, and strategic thinking.
Level 4 – For experienced players who love a challenge. Analyze deep positions, solve high-level puzzles, and test your skills.
The entire curriculum has been carefully curated and designed by our dedicated Teach Chess India volunteers: Sagar, Amruta, Priyanka, Nithin, Shashank, Vidhi, Karishma, Satanick, Daksh, Harsh, and Heenal. Their combined expertise ensures that every sheet is meaningful, engaging, and perfectly matched to your level.
At the camp, you will receive a sheet based on your current level, and move up as you complete it. And don’t worry, friendly mentors will always be there to guide and support you.

Established with the goal of promoting and nurturing the game of chess, this club has grown to become a hub for players of all ages and skill levels. With a rich history of hosting meetups across parks, cafes, malls, and other lively spaces, the Bangalore Chess Club is where chess meets camaraderie.
With this lovely initiative by our friends at BCC and the support of CircleChess and Merwans CakeStop, the Big Chess Summer Camp is all set to kick-off in the Garden City of India.
