August Khelo Chess India Tournaments: Suraj, Prakhar and Avish emerge as winners
Khelo Chess India competitions continue to be organized in Bhopal and, as always, our three major events in August — Rapid, Blitz and Sunday Masters Round Robin — witnessed many exciting games and results with upsets. In this series, Suraj Chaudhary won the Rapid title, Prakhar Bajaj won the Blitz title, and Avish Vishal Shinde won the Sunday Masters Round Robin title in the events held in August.

Rapid: Suraj remained unbeaten and won the title with 6.5 points
In Rapid, Suraj Chaudhary displayed excellent chess to win the title. He won his first six games in a row and then agreed to a draw in the seventh round to secure first place. His victory over Prakhar Bajaj in the sixth round was extremely important. Prakhar Bajaj finished second with 6 points on the basis of a better tiebreak, while Avish finished third. Suraj received ₹5,100, Prakhar ₹4,100 and Avish ₹3,100 as prize money.

A total of ₹25,000 in prizes were given in Rapid, while the Blitz had a prize fund of ₹10,000. Thus, a total of ₹35,000 in prizes were given in Rapid and Blitz.

Candidate Master Prakhar Bajaj becomes winner in Blitz
Prakhar Bajaj finished first in Blitz chess. Remaining unbeaten, he scored a total of 6.5 points in 7 rounds and became the winner. During the event, Prakhar registered victories over Raghav Singh in the sixth round and Vedant Bhardwaj in the seventh round. Eight-year-old Raghav Singh surprised everyone by scoring 6 points and securing second place, while Sheikh Jahan scored 6 points and finished third on tie-break. Prakhar received ₹2,500, Raghav ₹1,500, and Sheikh ₹1,200 in prize money, along with trophies presented by IVEI.

13-year-old Avish Vishal Shinde becomes the winner of Sunday Masters for the first time
Sunday Masters is one of the most different events in the Khelo Chess India series, where 10 players compete on a round-robin basis. Its format is Blitz. We have always awarded 100% of the combined entry fee as the prize, but from this time, with the support of Chhola Chess, we have increased the prize fund by one and a half times to ₹10,000. Some rules have also been created for including players, with some places reserved for higher-rated and titled players and some for young, emerging players.
For the first time, 13-year-old Avish Vishal Shinde won the title in this tough competition. He finished first with 7 points in 9 rounds. Vedant Bhardwaj finished second with 6.5 points on the basis of a better tiebreak, while Siddharth Upadhyay finished third with 6.5 points. Avish received ₹3,500, Vedant ₹2,000 and Siddharth ₹1,500 as prize money.

Thank you Chola Chess: Under the Khelo Chess India initiative, these were respectively the 87th, 88th and 89th events so far since January 2023, and in our effort to make it even better and provide a better platform to the next generation, we have now received the support of Chhola Chess. We are grateful to them for supporting our initiative not only in Madhya Pradesh but also across Central India! Hopefully, this collaboration will provide a platform to many emerging players through this event.

Thank you DGT: The live broadcasts of the last few events held under Khelo Chess India are being conducted online through DGT boards, and behind this we have received the support of DGT. We are also very grateful to them. The enthusiasm and inspiration of young players playing on DGT boards is truly wonderful to see.
Thank you IVEI: For the last two years, IVEI has always provided special support to every Khelo Chess India competition, and the beautiful hand-crafted wooden trophies made by them have inspired players to perform better.
