Suyog Wagh sensational at 3rd Pinnacle Rapid Rating Open 2025
IM Suyog Wagh scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win 3rd Pinnacle Rapid Rating Open 2025. He finished a full point ahead of the field. Six players - IM Vikramaditya Kulkarni, Ram Vishal Parab, IM Sagar Shah, Jeet Shah, FM Kaivalya Sandip Nagare and FM Om Manish Kadam scored 7.5/9 each. They secured second to seventh place respectively according to tie-breaks. Suyog defeated the eventual runner-up Vikramaditya in the seventh round. The total prize fund was ₹400000. The top three prizes were ₹50000, ₹35000 and ₹20000 along with a huge trophy each. The one-day Rapid rating tournament was organized by Pinnacle Chess Events at Korum Mall in Thane, Maharashtra on 28th September 2025. This is Suyog's second rating tournament triumph of the year. Suyog clinches his second Rating tournament of the year
IM Suyog Wagh made a fantastic start by winning eight games in-a-row. Four players - IM Vikramaditya Kulkarni, Ram Vishal Parab, FM Kaivalya Sandip Nagare and Jeet Shah were trailing by a half point at 7/8 each. A draw would have sufficed for Suyog to become a clear champion and that's exactly what he did against Kaivalya. Ram Vishal drew against Vikramaditya. The latter was third and the former second. Our very own Cofounder and CEO, IM Sagar Shah scored 7.5/9 to finish fourth. This was his second consecutive Rapid Rating tournament participation for his preparation before the USA vs India exhibition match.
A total of 298 players including a GM and seven IMs took part from various parts of India, one from USA and Zambia each. The one-day nine round Rapid rating tournament was organized by Pinnacle Chess Events at Korum Mall in Thane, Maharashtra on 28th September 2025. The time control of the event was 10 minutes + 5 seconds increment per move.
